How Much Data Did Chevy Drivers Consume in 2016?

It’s hard to say which one of the technology features in our New Chevrolet Vehicles is our favorite, but the OnStar 4G LTE is definitely up there! This convenient innovation makes it easy for our customers to stream video, send emails, or play games wherever they’re traveling in Albuquerque, Los Lunas, Moriarty, and Santa Fe, NM! It appears people all over the country agree, as Chevrolet just announced that Chevy owners in the U.S. consumed a total of 4,220,684 GB of data last year. This was a 200 percent increase from the previous year.“As a strategic plan to grow retail sales, Chevrolet has continually invested in new safety, convenience and connected technologies across our trucks, utilities and cars,” said Alan Batey, president of GM North America and global head of Chevrolet. “We are attracting new buyers to Chevrolet by offering technologies like OnStar 4G LTE not available on competitive models. New owners are in turn more likely to become repeat Chevrolet customers as these features become an integral part of their day-to-day lives.”The most significant increase came from Tahoe and Suburban owners, who used 713,669 GB of data, over three-and-a-half times more data than 2015. To give you an idea of how much data 713,669 GB of data is, it’s approximately:
  • 3 million hours of streaming standard video
  • 25 million hours of streaming music
  • 1.8 billion song, game or app downloads
  • 1.5 billion photos posted to social media
