Chevy Silverado owners were treated to a surprise at the Texas Motor Speedway infield recently when Chevy NASCAR driver Ryan Newman showed up. Newman spent the day driving around the infield looking for Chevy Silverado trucks and each time he spotted one her stopped and went in search of the owner. When he found the owner of the vehicle he handed them an autographed Chevy had and expressed his thanks to them for purchasing this incredible pickup from the Chevrolet lineup. The entire day was sponsored by the Chevrolet brand as a way of honoring their loyal customers and expressing their gratitude to the individuals who have helped to keep the Chevy brand going strong for more than 100 years. The Chevrolet brand recently celebrated its seventh month in a row of year-over-year sales increase with a total of 183,464 units sold throughout October. This record-breaking total is a full 17.6 percent higher than the total achieved throughout October of 2014. According to General Motors, SUVs and Trucks have proved to be the biggest sellers for most of their brands including Chevrolet. “The redesign of our full-size trucks and SUVs, and our move into the small crossover and mid-size pickup segments were smart bets and our timing couldn’t be better with industry sales at record levels,” said Kurt McNeil, GM’s U.S. vice president of Sales Operations. “Customers are also embracing our Shop-Click-Drive online shopping program, where the price you see is the price you pay. We see more growth ahead because it’s simple and transparent.” As we enter into truck season, Chevy trucks saw an increase by 13-percent, as the crossovers experienced a 58-percent increase which resulted in record-breaking totals, whereas sedans only saw a 6-percent increase. The Chevrolet Colorado offers power, affordability, and style which helped it to set record breaking numbers. In October of last year there were only 1,491 units sold of the Colorado, whereas there were 7,059 recently sold last month, which makes for a 373.44-percent increase when compared month to month.  As for the year-to-date units sold, the Colorado truck went from just 1600 to 70,291 so far. The Chevy Equinox held steady with a 25.47-percent increase. As for other increasingly popular vehicles, the Malibu and Traverse both saw increases on a month to month comparison and year-to-date. Hennessey Performance Engineering has put their skills to the test once again, and this time the result is a 2015 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 that has been fitted with the HPE650 package. This means that the vehicle’s LS7 small-block V8 has been amped up by HPE to now allow the Z/28 to generate an impressive 557 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque.
