The Chevrolet Traverse, Camaro, Silverado 1500, Colorado, Tahoe, Impala and Corvette were all presented with a 2015 Most Popular on Edmunds.com award.  This is the second straight year that this many Chevy models have received this award. Edmunds.com presents these awards each year to models that are determined to be the most popular choice amongst car buyers researching on Edmunds.com.  From January 1st - October 31st 2014 Edmunds.com monitored the number of times each vehicle’s page was visited by poentitial buyers and kept a running tally.  At the end of the 10 month period, all vehicles that were the top three visited in each segment were declared as “most Popular” winners. “Across the board, Chevrolet’s model lineup is the strongest it’s ever been,” said Brian Sweeney, U.S. vice president of Chevrolet. “This award proves that Chevrolet is delivering the exciting designs, innovative technologies and safety features that customers want most.”

A new Custom Sport special edition package has been released by Chevrolet for the LT, LTZ and Z71 trims of the 2015 Chevy Silverado. This new custom package includes chrome door handles and mirror caps, heated power-adjusted mirrors, 20-inch chrome wheels, projector beam headlamps, chrome body-side moldings and tow hooks, body-colored grille surrounded with a chrome-accented black grille and body-colored front and rear bumpers. This new custom package was designed in order for the brand to pay homage to the 1967 Chevy Pickup. This classic model was one of the most notable models in Chevy history as it inspired the movement of customers purchasing pickup’s for personal use rather than strictly professional. “The Custom Sport special edition was inspired by Chevy Custom Sport Trucks of the late 1960s,” said Sandor Piszar, Chevrolet Trucks marketing director. “Those CST models added a touch of elegance to a great all-around truck, just like the Custom Sport package for the new Silverado.”

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has presented 2015 “Top Safety Pick +” awards to four Chevy models. The awards winning vehicles are the 2015 Chevrolet Malibu, Spark, Equinox and Volt. In order to receive this recognition each model has to earn a good or better rating in the side, front, head restraint and roof strength tests and a good or acceptable rating in the small overlap front test. “Receiving this recognition from IIHS for the 2015 Spark, Volt, Malibu and Equinox is great news for Chevrolet and even greater news for our customers,” said Steven Majoros, director, Chevrolet Cars and Crossover Marketing.

The Chevrolet Chaparral 2X Vision Gran Turismo is now available in the sixth installment of the Gran Turismo® series on Playstation® 3. You can get this concept car for your driving pleasure by installing Update 1.15 and then purchase the car from the “Vision GT” area within the “CARS” section in “My Home.” You can also get the car by completing a lap (regardless of lap time) in the new Seasonal Event, which is available for a limited time. “The Chevrolet Chaparral 2X Vision GT serves as an example of what our designers are capable of when they are cut loose, no holds barred,” said Ed Welburn, vice president of GM Global Design. “It’s a fantasy car in every sense of the word.” The vehicle has a propulsion system that features a mid-mounted laser beamed-energy propulsion system. This pulses beams of light that focus in a shroud and create shock waves that generate 900 horsepower worth of thrust. The vehicle is able to go from 0 to 60 in 1.5 seconds. Armen Aghakhan was one of the first drivers to “drive” the Chaparral 2X VGT at the L.A. Auto show. He said, “Driving the Chaparral 2X VGT was truly a blast. Much like its predecessors, this car is truly revolutionary for its time and I am one of the few lucky ones to get to experience this car first hand.”

Chevrolet recently honored a deserving military family at the annual Army-Navy Game at the M&T Bank Stadium by presenting then with a 2015 Chevrolet Colorado. The family is that of U.S. Army Sgt. Jonathon Preston Thompson who recently returned home from his second deployment and was reunited with his wife Elizabeth and daughter Reece in a surprise at the game. Earlier this year, the family also suffered a fire at their home, which they are still in the process of recovering from, so this gift is especially significant for them. This surprise was made possible through the Wish For Our Heroes program that provides resources to deserving families throughout the U.S. “We join with Chevrolet in welcoming Sgt. The LT1 Small Block 6.2L V8 engine from Chevrolet that currently provides power to the 2015 Corvette Stingray has been honored by WardsAuto Magazine. The publication recently included this engine on its 2015 lost of the “10 Best Engines”, making this the second year in a row that it has received this recognition. With the small block 6.2L V8 engine providing power to the 2015 Corvette, this model officially became Chevrolet’s quickest, most powerful and most fuel-efficient vehicle ever. This engine provides the power to travel a quarter of a mile in 12 seconds and accelerate from 0-60 in 3.8 seconds.
