As a way to give recognition to the top product development executive, Mark Reuss, General Motors gave him the chance of a lifetime. The avid motorsports fan had the opportunity to pace drivers for the Chevrolet Dual in Detroit from behind the wheel of a Corvette Z06. “I’m thrilled to drive the Corvette Z06 pace car at this year’s Grand Prix,” Reuss said. “Growing up here and having the opportunity to help bring this great event to racing fans in Detroit has been very exciting, and the privilege of driving the pace car makes it even more special for me." Reuss holds the title of executive vice president of Global Product Development and Global Purchasing and Supply Chain. Because of his position, he is no stranger to the race track. He is a certified industry poll test driver for the North Course of the Nürburgring track in Germany. In addition to that, Reuss also created and led the GM Performance Division in 2001. There, he was responsible for GM racing vehicles and production versions of Chevrolet SS models and the Cadillac V-Series. The car Reuss drove to set the pace of the race, the Corvette Z06, is similar to the one driven by Jeff Gordon in the Indianapolis 500. Including the Arctic White exterior and Adrenaline Red interior with a special graphics package and safety strobe lights.

A couple of weeks ago, Chevy Camaro enthusiasts from all over gathered at Belle Isle Park for the official unveiling of the #CamaroSix. This all-new 2016 Camaro is the first in the new sixth generation line and comes with a whole redesigned look and feel from the inside out. Leading up to the big reveal, Chevrolet was slowly releasing bits and pieces of information about this model highlighting some of the main design and performance changes and upgrades that customers could expect. A few of the teasers included information of the 2016 Camaro’s sleeker look, increased aerodynamic capabilities, advanced Drive Mode Selector and much more. Now that the new Camaro has made its inaugural appearance, Chevy has released a video of its debut in order to allow fans who were not able to attend the Bell Isle celebration the chance to get a good look at this impressive new model. General Motors has announced that a new state-of-the-art paint shop will be amongst the $439 million in upgrades being made to the Bowling Green KY Corvette Plant. This new paint shop will be 450,000 square-feet, which is nearly half the size of the current facility, and will include a variety of technological upgrades, new tooling, robots and more.  The production is scheduled to begin sometime this summer and will take about two years to be completed.   “With this major technology investment, we can continue to exceed the expectations of sports car buyers for years to come,” said North American Manufacturing Manager Arvin Jones. “These types of investments are evidence that the customer is at the center of every decision we make.”   A few more of the upgrades that will be made to this new facility include Light-emitting diode, or LED, lighting for process decks to help with visual inspections, longer, high-efficiency baking ovens for a higher quality paint finish, Dry Scrubber Booth Technology with Limestone Handling System to help eliminate waste and sludge water and State-of-the-art FANUC robots with Versa-bell 3 electrostatic applicators that offer maximum transfer efficiency and a smooth finish.

In honor of Military Appreciation month and the upcoming Memorial Day holiday, Chevrolet has released a new video that salutes Military men and women for all that they do for us. In the video, we see soldiers being enthusiastically greeted by their children upon returning home from a long absence. This shows the personal side of the military family life and helps others to realize the sacrifices that those in service have to make. The 2015 Chevy Silverado has been an extremely popular model amongst Chevy truck enthusiasts since it was first released due to its impressive combination of style and power. Throughout the last year, the brand has released four special edition versions of the Silverado that each offer an upscale version of this remarkable pickup. In order to showcase all four of these new special edition models, Chevy has released a new advertisement that features all of them. These models include the 2015 Silverado Midnight Edition, Custom Sport Edition, Blackout Edition and Rally Edition. Chevrolet has released a new advertisement that features the 2016 Chevy Volt along with the theme of the new Disney movie ‘Tomorrowland’. The film has a futuristic fantasy theme that can be seen reflected in the new Volt along with innovation and inspiration. The spot is called ‘The Car of Tomorrow’ and delivers a unique look into the process of designing and creating a new vehicle. The advertisement takes us through a futuristic looking home as we see sketched and digital renderings of several concept vehicles unfold. In the end, the final product is the 2016 Volt, which is seen driving off down the road into a tomorrow full of possibilities. “The spot is a reminder that the Volt realizes a long-held aspiration to make a beautiful, efficient, quiet electric vehicle that is attainable,” said Paul Edwards, U.S. vice president, Chevrolet Marketing. Before the final Volt is seen in the end, there are sketches and renderings of five different concept models, which include the Firebird III, Firebird IV, Astro II, Astro III and Express. Chevy fans looking for a glimpse at the 2016 Chevy Cruze will be happy to know that spy shots on this all-new model have been released. From the pictures, we can already see that the U.S. version of this all-new model has several distinctive differences from the Chinese version making it truly standout. A few of the redesigned new features on this model include the front fascia, smaller rear lights, more angular front light lenses, a thinner upper grille with the bowtie badge, the new Chevy grin on the front end and a new distinctive curve around the trunk. As part of Chevy’s new D2xx global platform, the 2016 Cruze will be powered by one of the available Ecotec engines such as the 1.5L engine that generates approximately 113 hp and 108 lb-ft of torque. All of the engines will be paired with a new seven-speed dual-clutch (automated-manual) transmission (DCT).

Throughout the month of April, Chevrolet sold a total of 187,837 vehicles according to reports released by General Motors. This total is an increase of 3.41 percent over sales from last April which totaled at 181,648 units. In terms of year-to-date sales, the brand has reached 664,393 units so far this year, which is an increase of 4.74 percent compared to the 634,331 units sold during this time in 2014.   “Consumer and commercial customer demand for pickups and utility vehicles has been building since last fall, and that’s a clear sign that the slowdown in GDP growth during the winter months was caused by factors that are mostly transitory in nature,” Kurt McNeil, General Motors’ U.S. vice president of Sales Operations said. “The auto industry continues to be on track to have its best sales year since 2006.” Chevrolet Highlights: Sonic sales increased by 13.65 percent with 8,700 units SS sales increased by 5.56 percent with 299 units Malibu sales reached 17,430 units Cruze sales reached 20,947 units Traverse sales increased by 27.63 percent with 11,475 units Colorado sales reached an impressive 7,010 units Silverado sales increased by 7.54 percent with 45,978 units Spark sales reached 3,743 units Camaro sales reached 6,909 units Suburban sales reached 4,139 units Impala sales reached 10,938 units Equinox sales increased by 42 percent with 28,856 units Tahoe sales reached 7,903 units Volt sales reached 905 units Trax sales reached 3,451 units

In just a couple of weeks, Camaro enthusiasts everywhere will be gathered at Belle Isle Park in Detroit to celebrate the official world debut of the 2016 Camaro. In anticipation of that day, Chevrolet has been releasing pieces of information about this all-new model as teasers for the fans to keep them guessing as to what they will actually see once the new Camaro is officially unveiled. Previous teasers have included information about the vehicle’s new driving style and advanced technologies. In the newest release, Chevy is outlining some of the new stylistic elements of this all-new model.   “The Camaro went to the gym and came out with a lithe, more athletic physique for the sixth generation,” said Ed Welburn, vice president, GM Global Design. “It’s a more expressive evolution of the Camaro’s iconic character – and one that complements its leaner size and sharper reflexes.”   The sleeker, more sculpted look of the 2016 Camaro has been designed in order to reflect the more dynamic feel of this new model’s driving style. A few of the design elements that make this model stand out include broad rear fenders, a higher amount of detailing such as a crease that runs parallel to the fender edge and an aluminum hood that offers a shrink-wrapped look.

No matter what type of weather or terrain you are driving your truck through, good traction is a necessity to ensure that the vehicle can perform at its best. One vehicle component that helps with traction is an automatic locking rear differential, or G80 as it is often referred to by Chevy. “The G80 locking axle provides a greater traction advantage than limited-slip differentials in most situations, while its automatic engagement requires no driver involvement, unlike some competitors’ electronic lockers, which require driver activation,” said Jeff Luke, executive chief engineer. “The G80’s simplicity, durability and sure-footed grip have been proven with generations of customers, as it has been a staple of the Chevy truck lineup for more than 40 years.” With the G80, the truck’s rear axle will lock automatically if one of the wheels start to spin, which makes it possible for both of the rear wheels to move the truck. With this increased traction capabilities, 2WD pickups will be able to more easily travel through terrain that is generally considered 4x4 only. Most Chevy Silverado vehicles have the G80 available while it comes standard all Silverado 2500 and 3500 HDs and on the LTZ and Z71 versions of the 1500.  The Chevy Tahoe, Suburban and Colorado Z71 comes standard with the G80 as well and the Colorado WT and LT have it as an available option.

Camaro enthusiasts everywhere are eagerly waiting for the official release of the 2016 Chevy Camaro which is scheduled for May 16, at Belle Isle Park in Detroit. As that day draws closer, Chevrolet has been releasing information about this all-new model in order to offer fans a glimpse at what they can expect. The newest information highlights the impressive new driver select technologies in this model that enhance the overall driving experience of this all-new model.   One of the main new features is the Drive Mode Selector which allows for various different modes to be selected at any given time that cater to the driving conditions. These modes include Sport, Snow/Ice and Tour on all models with Track available on SS models. Each of the individual modes have been designed with individual calibrations for throttle progression, steering and stability control.   The 2016 Camaro will also be equipped with an enhanced dual-mode exhaust system that offers personalized options such as “stealth” mode and “track” mode. The electronically controlled valves on this system also allow the mufflers to be bypassed during quick acceleration, which offers greater sound levels and improved overall performance.
